Nestled on the sparkling Adriatic coast in the heart of Dalmatia, Vodice is one of Croatia's most beloved seaside destinations — and it's easy to see why. With a picturesque old town, a vibrant marina, crystal-clear waters, and an unbeatable location surrounded by natural and cultural wonders, Vodice offers everything you need for the perfect Mediterranean escape.
Sun, Sea & Stunning Beaches
Vodice is famous for its beautiful beaches. The crown jewel is Plava Plaža (Blue Beach) — a four-kilometre-long pebble beach awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for water quality and cleanliness, widely considered one of the finest beaches in Croatia. Hangar Beach buzzes with water sports and beach bars where after-beach parties keep the atmosphere lively every summer evening. Families will love the shallow, gently sloping shores of Srima, just a short drive away.
Two National Parks on Your Doorstep
Just 10–15 kilometres from Vodice lies Krka National Park, one of Croatia's most spectacular natural treasures. The park is centred around the Krka River and its breathtaking series of waterfalls — the most famous being Skradinski Buk, where you can swim in turquoise pools surrounded by lush vegetation. Further upstream, the 25-metre Roški Slap waterfall impresses even the most seasoned travellers. In the middle of the river sits Visovac Island, home to a 15th-century Franciscan monastery — a truly magical sight. A short boat ride from Skradin is all it takes to enter this natural wonderland.
Further out to sea lies the extraordinary Kornati National Park — an archipelago of over 140 uninhabited islands, islets and reefs stretching across the azure Adriatic. Known as the "crown of the Adriatic," Kornati dazzles with its dramatic white limestone cliffs, hidden coves, and rich marine life. Organised day trips by boat from Vodice make exploring this unique wilderness effortless.
Island Hopping & Coastal Adventures
From Vodice's marina, it's easy to hop on a ferry or excursion boat and discover the nearby islands. Prvić, just a short ride away, enchants visitors with its peaceful atmosphere, stone villages, and lovely waterfront restaurants. Zlarin, known as the "Coral Island," has centuries of coral-crafting tradition and charming churches dating back to the 15th century. For those who love secluded coves and unspoiled nature, the island of Kaprije is a true gem.
For the more adventurous, Vodice offers excellent diving — exploring sunken ships, underwater reefs, and even aircraft wrecks. Kayaking, sailing, deep-sea fishing, and boat rentals are all readily available throughout the summer season.
A Region Rich in History & Culture
The city of Šibenik, just 12 kilometres away, is home to the magnificent Cathedral of St. James — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in the Mediterranean. The city's medieval old town, the Fortress of St. Michael, and lively squares make it well worth an afternoon visit. Travelling 40 kilometres south brings you to Primošten, a fairy-tale town whose old town sits on a small peninsula completely surrounded by the sea. Just beyond lies Trogir, another UNESCO World Heritage Site with a perfectly preserved medieval core that will transport you back in time.
Croatia's second city, Split, lies around 70 kilometres south of Vodice and is an absolute must-see. Its centrepiece, the 1,700-year-old Diocletian's Palace, is one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world, with restaurants, cafés and boutiques woven into its ancient walls.
Heading 60 kilometres north, the city of Zadar enchants with its Roman ruins, vibrant promenade, and two iconic modern installations: the Sea Organ — which makes music from the waves — and the mesmerising solar-powered Greeting to the Sun.
And for those willing to venture a little further, the world-famous Plitvice Lakes National Park (also a UNESCO site) is reachable within two hours — an absolute bucket-list experience.
Food, Festivals & the Dalmatian Way of Life
Vodice is a town that knows how to celebrate. The CMC music festival in June draws thousands of visitors, while the Feast of St. Cross in July honours the town's patron saint. The local gastronomy scene is a dream — fresh seafood, grilled fish, homemade prosciutto, local cheeses, and indigenous wines from the surrounding vineyards make every meal a pleasure.
Whether you're seeking relaxation on pristine beaches, adventure in breathtaking national parks, cultural exploration in ancient cities, or simply the joy of Dalmatian hospitality — Vodice has it all, and more.
